Battery Pack Configuration Calculator

OEM / ODM ENGINEERING TOOL

Battery Pack Configuration Calculator

Estimate cell count, nominal voltage, capacity and energy before requesting an engineering review.

Cell and pack inputs

Example inputs are not a qualified cell model. Form factor does not determine chemistry, capacity or current rating. Use the selected cell’s datasheet.

Optional datasheet values

No peak-current estimate is provided. Continuous-current arithmetic excludes BMS, thermal, wiring, connector and interconnect limits.

Electrical grouping only; not a mechanical layout or wiring instruction.

Estimated configuration, not an approved battery design. Pack output limits, usable energy, runtime, charging compatibility and transport eligibility require separate review.

How the calculation works

Output Formula Boundary
Cell count S x P Assumes identical cells in a uniform series/parallel topology.
Nominal voltage S x cell nominal voltage Not a regulated output; actual voltage changes with SOC and load.
Capacity P x cell capacity (Ah) Rated arithmetic, not measured usable pack capacity.
Nominal energy Pack nominal V x pack Ah Does not include temperature, aging, cutoff or conversion losses.
Cells-only weight S x P x cell weight Excludes BMS, enclosure, wiring, insulation and structural parts.
Cells-only current P x entered cell continuous current Not a certified or recommended pack discharge rating.

OEM integration checks

Medical devices

Check device input limits, backup runtime, alarms, replacement handling and system-level verification.

Medical battery engineering

Robotics and industrial systems

Define continuous, startup and stall current, regeneration, communication, charging and mechanical retention.

BMS and PCM integration

Low-temperature equipment

Specify charge and discharge temperatures separately. No universal -40 C capacity factor is applied by this tool.

Frequently asked questions

Does 6S2P identify a complete battery specification?

No. It identifies six series groups with two cells in parallel per group. Cell chemistry, cell model, capacity, protection and interfaces still need to be specified.

Is a 10S lithium-ion pack always a 36V replacement?

No. Ten cells rated at 3.6V give 36V nominal, but the complete charge/discharge window and device cutoff requirements must also match. A nominal-voltage label alone does not establish compatibility.

Why are 18650 and LiFePO4 separate selections?

18650 describes a cylindrical form factor. LiFePO4 describes chemistry. Neither field alone defines a specific cell’s electrical ratings.

Can I use the current result to select a BMS?

Not by itself. Cell current ratings depend on their test conditions. BMS switching components, protection timing, conductors, connectors and cooling must be sized and validated together.

Can this estimate battery runtime at -40 C?

No. Low-temperature usable energy depends on cell model, temperature, load, aging and cutoff. Use application-specific test data for runtime planning.

Does a Wh result confirm air-shipping eligibility?

No. Transport review also depends on chemistry, test evidence, packing arrangement, quantity, state of charge and applicable carrier requirements. This calculator does not issue a shipping decision.

Do I need to provide an email to see the results?

No. Results are available without registration. Contact information is required only if you choose to submit an engineering enquiry.
